The crowd was elated, as was his entire base watching on their TVs, phones, tablets and laptops. There was even a big screen set up outside of the rally so that those who weren’t able to get in, still had the opportunity to behold. We couldn’t see them, but I’m sure they were cheering as well.
Gallup Research reports from a study in 2016, that overall four in five Americans support Voter ID Laws (80%) and Republicans overwhelmingly support voter ID laws (95%).
Left-leaning media outlets were quick to jump on the comment President Trump made, claiming that he’s out of touch when he said that ID’s are needed for everything besides voting.
However, it is true that ID’s are required to buy alcohol, tobacco, pay by check, and sometimes you might be asked to show proof if your credit card isn’t signed. It’s click-bait to focus on such a minute comment, when the real story is about security in our elections. Voter ID is an important part of keeping America’s elections honest and ‘great.’
We can also argue that it’s almost impossible to be a contributing member of society without having a photo ID. You can not have a job, board a plane, have a checking account/bank account/credit card, stay in a hotel, buy/register/rent a car, or enter many office/government buildings. In some cases, you would not be able to register your children for school without validating your identity. This would make it very hard to participate in everyday American life.
As previously reported in a recent PJ Media article by Paula Bolyard, there is only a handful of states that require a photo ID to vote. Only seven of those few states are actually strict in implementing the protocol: Wisconsin, Indiana, Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, Alabama and Kansas.
For many years, other states have been trying to implement mandatory voter ID laws with so much backlash from Leftist/progressive groups and Democrats that claim it’s discriminatory and racist. But isn’t it discriminatory and racist to suggest that minorities aren’t capable of obtaining their own photo identification?
Not to mention quite insulting as well.
Many groups do mass voter registration events too, so why don’t they just include attaining the correct documentation for obtaining the photo ID that is required as well?
The president also mentioned in his speech at the Tampa rally, “In some states, Democrats are even trying to give illegal immigrants the right to vote. They want to give them the right to vote.”
The crowd erupts into boos.
“And what about all those people that are waiting in line for 7, 8, 9, 10 years, trying to get into our country? They don’t have the right to vote. We believe that only American citizens should vote in American elections.”
Why would Democrat-run states like California want illegal immigrants to vote in American elections?
Could it be that illegals are more likely to vote Democrat?
Might it be that keeping voter identification laws as lenient as they are, makes it easier for the Democrats to stay in power?
Could it be that if a photo ID was mandatory, then there would be no illegal aliens voting?
According to Pew Research:
In 2012, the Pew Research Center’s National Survey of Latinos found that among Latino immigrants who are not U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents (and therefore likely unauthorized immigrants/illegal immigrants), some 31% identify as Democrats and just 4% as Republicans. An additional 33% say they are political independents, 16% mention some other political party and 15% say they “don’t know” or refuse to answer the question.
It’s very often dismissed by the Left as a conspiracy theory, despite the fact that there are many cases where voter fraud has been proven and/or prosecuted. If there is one case, there is a possibility of many more that are going undetected, especially considering that not many are checking ID. Therefore, if no one is checking ID’s, then how is it possible to detect fraud?
Citing an article from October 2016 in the Washington Times:
This is where the left is wrong: The argument isn’t whether voter fraud is real, but how widespread it is. Here’s 10 examples documenting that voter fraud isn’t a myth and how Mr. Trump’s claims aren’t just speculation.
- Dead people voting in Colorado.
- Illegals found voting in Virginia; only discovered after they self-reported.
- Some Pennsylvania citizens voting twice.
- Illegal voters uncovered in Philadelphia; half had previously voted.
- Voter rigging triggers probe in Texas.
- Indiana voter fraud investigation grows to 56 counties.
- Three under investigation in Oklahoma for voting twice in the presidential primary.
- Election fraud in Kentucky.
- Underage voters found voting in Wisconsin’s presidential primary.
- Voter registration cards sent to illegals in Pennsylvania.
Those that oppose mandatory voter ID laws are not looking at the bigger picture of voter integrity. The way we pick the leaders and representatives of the people should be done with rectitude. It is vital in a republic such as the United States of America that the citizens of that country feel confident in their election process.
Sadly, so many have lost that.
If “We the People” can not trust how our leaders are being chosen, then we will not respect them as leaders. This disrespect will then lead to chaos, unlawfulness, division and eventually violence. We’ve been witnessing this very behavior in real time, especially since November 2016.
Both sides of the political spectrum have questioned the integrity of our democratic process.
It's about time for something to be done about it, other than investigations.
